The Annual Papiya Ghosh Memorial Lecture

The Annual Papiya Ghosh Memorial Lecture, instituted at the University of Chicago ( USA) , was held on 21st January 2026, by Dr. Lisa Mitchell of the University of Pennsylvania ( USA). She spoke on ” Rural – Urban Political Mediations in the 70s in South India”.

The ANNUAL PAPIYA GHOSH MEMORIAL AWARD FUNCTION to felicitate the Post Graduate Topper, HISTORY DEPARTMENT, PATNA UNIVERSITY, was held at Patna on 4th December 2025.It was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Namita Singh, Head of the Department, Deepti Tiwari and Former Professor, Maya Shankar , Faculty members, students and other invitees.

Memorial Award for the Best MPhil Thesis

Lois Toumieux of St Anthony’s College was awarded the 2025 Papiya Ghosh Memorial Award for the best MPhil Thesis, instituted at the Oxford University of International Development.The Thesis covered the socio- economic and environmental impact of Nickel mining in Eastern Madagascar, Africa

The first Papiya Ghosh Memorial Lecture instituted at the prestigious University of Chicago by Papiya’s sister, Dr. Jaya Ghosh ( Baltimore, USA), was delivered on 14th May 2025 by internationally renowned academic and policy analyst, Christopher Jaffrelot.
